Born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Sommer received her Bachelor Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 and Master of Physical Therapy degree from St. Ambrose University in 2003.

Sommer has practiced in different outpatient orthopedic settings throughout her career. In April 2012, she and her husband made the big move to Jacksonville, FL and got a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, Minzi. Little did Sommer know at the time that in a few short years Minzi would become her inspiration in pursuing a career canine rehabilitation!

It was in early 2017 that Sommer realized she desired something different in her career. She started researching canine rehab more and knew this is what she wanted to pursue as it combined her passion of her love for dogs and experience in human physical therapy. She knew there were plenty of other pet parents out there who loved their dog as much as she did and considered them part of the family and Sommer wanted to be the one to help them if they needed therapy.

In August 2018, she completed her certification in canine rehabilitation through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. She realized she wanted to start her own business and bring canine rehab to the convenience of peoples’ homes. In August 2019, Movin’ Tails was born!
